I recently watched Disney's Frozen, which was based on Hans Christian Anderson's book Snow Queen. It has recieved rave reviews, and I wondered, what criteria are necessary to make, what is labeled, a Best Fantasy Novel? I approached this by looking at what I liked about the book and movie.
If you break down the basics it has the formula that we love. There is a triator, a misunderstanding, a love story, and a resolution. All of which have a time sensitive manner. I loved the twist at the end of the book, where you think that Hans's love will save Anna. He is the traitor, so now we are glued to the edge of your seat thinking that the pure love from Kristoff will save her.
Anna chooses to save her sister Elsa, instead of herself, which causes her to become frozen. The fantastic twist is that the true love that is needed to break the curse is not what we thought. It is the true love of sisters that ends up saving Anna, Elsa and Arendelle. Love is always a heart-warming answer.
Do you think that the Snow Queen is considered a Best Fantasy Novel?
"I give it 5 stars. It is a great family movie and book. I agree with the critics as it being classified as the BEST FANTASY NOVEL."
