Throughout history and time there are quotes that have magically captured a moment or feeling. One of my favorite quotes is, ‘Even the best of men, is a man at best.’ It just puts things into perspective. There are so many speeches, movies, and dialogue presented in literature that are so beautifully crafted. It has always been said that a great storyteller can paint a detailed picture in two sentences or less, so I set out to meet the challenge. Here it goes:
Shivers ran through his body as he stared down the barrel of his recently purchased shotgun. God forgive me for what I’m about to do.
That was fun. Writing needs to have meaningful words, and not just fluff. I have decided to share with you my favorite movie/book lines of all time. The following list of quotes have captured out attentions perfectly.
"Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn."
"Here's looking at you, kid."
"May the Force be with you."
"There's no place like home."
"Show me the money!"
"You can't handle the truth!"
"I see dead people."
"Houston, we have a problem."
"You had me at 'hello.'"
"Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer."
"A martini. Shaken, not stirred."
"I feel the need—the need for speed!"
"I'm the king of the world!"
If you notice, all of the quotes are short and to the point. They do not have unnecessary adverbs or fluff. They paint a moment, a feeling, and a memory. Great power resides in flawlessly executed words.
